Preserve All Your Baby’s Memories- No Baby Book Required!

When Joey was a baby he would do the funniest things. I wanted to be able to remember all of them to tell him when he got older. But writing them in a baby book seemed like a lot of work for every little thing. So I did a little research and came up with a much better way. I opened him a Gmail account.

Now whenever Joey does something that I want to be able to remember forever, I write it in an email to him. I wrote him an email to tell him about how he found out he was going to be a big brother, one to tell him about his first trip to the beach, and sometimes I email him just to remind him how much mommy loves him. When he’s 18 I plan on telling him about the account and giving him the password. Hopefully he won’t read this blog before then.

What I love the most about this idea is I can document the events as soon as they happen so I don’t forget to do it later. I whip out my phone wherever I am and get typing. If I was using a book to capture the moments, it would never happen. First of all, I wouldn’t want to write that much, and by the time I get home and get everyone ready for bed, who wants to document the day in a book. I would never do it. This is much more convenient; all I need is my phone.

If you aren’t familiar with a google account, here’s why I chose to open an email with them as opposed to a different service. With your Google account comes a Google drive. It’s a place where you can upload and store up to 15 free GB of storage. So I can also upload all the pictures that I take of him that I know we will never print out. And you can even upload documents if you have any that are relevant to your child’s life.

This is something you can start in your pregnancy to share with them your wonderful journey. And to remind them later what you went through for ten months to bring them into this world. Remember, there always has to be something in it for you.

Just make sure to write down the password and keep it in a safe place. You won’t need it to write emails but your child will need it in 18 years to get them. Maybe you can write the password down in their baby book.
